MMGM: Wonder

Hey guys! This week I’m featuring Wonder, by R. J. Palacio. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while, so when my friend lent it to me, it was an awesome opportunity. And I read it, and it was awesome, so now I’m doing an MMGM about it! Anyways, on to the book:

Auggie was born with an extreme facial deformity that has always made it hard for him to make friends. But he was also born with an extremely supportive family. His mom has homeschooled him up until this point, (the summer before 5th grade) but she thinks now, with everyone going into middle school, might be a good time for Auggie to start going to Beecher Prep, the local middle school. He resists at first, but decides he needs to start growing up.

He goes to school… and things are hard. But some things are good, too. He has friends. He’s getting good grades. But when some of the people he thought were fiends start to talk about him behind his back, Auggie reconsiders his plan. Β At the same time, Olivia, Auggie’s older sister, struggles with the lack of attention she’s getting from her parents.

This book shows the good and the bad, the kind, and the cruel, and shows us not to judge a person by their cover, but instead, by the content of their character.

Until next week, have fun with this heartwarming novel. πŸ™‚
